Pin down the right question before chasing answers.
The sharp question no one has yet posed.
What does not yet exist is always born there.
EEG, pulse waves, face, voice, hormones. IKI is a Tokyo-based research company recovering the subtle biosignals buried in noise — to build a new foundation for healthcare.
People can only pursue what they can measure — which is why the world has long taken money and efficiency as its yardstick. From biosignals like brainwaves, pulse, expression and hormones, IKI turns what was never measurable before — happiness, sensibility, the states of mind and body — into biomarkers anyone can read. When the invisible becomes a measurable metric, both human choices and the very definition of richness begin to change.
Pin down the right question before chasing answers.
The sharp question no one has yet posed.
What does not yet exist is always born there.
Measuring is never the goal in itself.
"Whose life, and for what, does this technology serve?" We refuse technical self-indulgence and stay fixed on enriching people's everyday lives.
That is what we mean by kindness.
No answer is waiting to be found.
We refuse to be boxed in by conventional wisdom — try, verify, and try again.
Failure is just a waypoint. The answer is something we create beyond it.
Founder
Yasue Mitsukura is a biosignal-processing researcher and a professor at Keio University, with concurrent appointments in the Faculty of Science and Technology and the School of Medicine (Department of Neuropsychiatry). Her three-decade research program is built on a real-time noise-rejection algorithm — first patented in 1997 — that turns raw EEG and pulse waves into device-agnostic, comparable signals. On top of that foundation she has developed methods to estimate affect (KANSEI), sleep stages, cardiovascular trends, circulating hormones and early signs of dementia. Her work has appeared in Nature among other journals, and her affect-estimation invention was selected for the World Top-50 Inventions. In 2024 she founded IKI Japan Inc. to bring this research into the world.
IKI begins with a real-time noise-rejection algorithm first patented in 1997. We separate signal from noise at the point of measurement, so that the data downstream is device-agnostic, comparable, and ready for biomarker inference.
Acquire the subtle changes the body emits — EEG, pulse waves, video, mouth movement — from any device class.
Separate noise in real time and align measurements across heterogeneous devices and environments.
Layer state-estimation algorithms for affect, sleep, circulation, speech and hormones on top of a clean signal.
Whatever the device or setting, the same body yields the same physiological readings. With its own noise-rejection algorithm as the common ground, IKI reads a range of biosignals — from EEG and pulse waves to camera footage and speech — on a single biomarker foundation.
Make moment-to-moment emotion visible — from brain waves and pulse, without a questionnaire.
Five-stage sleep classification from a single pulse signal — no PSG, no electrodes.
Camera-only sensing. Read heart rate, HRV and blood-pressure trends from a face on screen.
Read words from the mouth, even when there is no voice to hear.
Track hormone dynamics from biosignals — without a needle, without a lab.
Make the sensibility no one can put into words visible — read from the brain, once a second.
KANSEI Analyzer is the product form of IKI’s sensibility-estimation technology. Built on an EEG database and algorithms developed over roughly two decades, it makes interest, liking, focus, stress and calmness visible in real time — with nothing but a compact EEG headset and a tablet.
Beyond the five core metrics, the set extends to satisfaction, excitement, comfort and more — up to eight on request.
Sensibility estimation grounded in ~20 years of EEG data and proprietary algorithms — metrics with academic backing.
Surface the latent, unconscious reactions a questionnaire can’t reach. Put a number on the “somehow”.
Just a small headset and a tablet. Low wearing burden, and noise rejection lets you measure even in the field.
Capture five metrics in real time, synced to video or audio — so you can pinpoint the moment the mind moves.
Prove the effect of foods, drinks, bathing or cosmetics with EEG — grounding PR and product claims.
Suntory / Rinnai / KOSÉMeasure unconscious reactions to ads, packaging and content, and refine the creative.
Kanebo / SaizeriyaVisualise how an office or store affects focus, stress and comfort.
Tokyu LandCapture the latent needs a survey can’t reach — a starting point for product and marketing.
Coca-Cola Japan / BridgestoneIKI Japan and IKI Inc. work in parallel — research, IP development and deployment, in service of a new healthcare foundation.
